77, of Indianapolis, departed this life Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at her home. She was born July 17, 1948 in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Gaylord & Helen (Crowe) Gabriel. Toni grew up and attended schools in Terre Haute and then worked in transportation logistics before becoming the director of La Mirada and La Habra Volunteer Centers in California.
Toni was a kind, humble and gentle soul who was always giving of herself to others. She loved volunteering and making friends for many years at Meals on Wheels, Eyes of Hope in La Mirada and Cleta Harder Developmental School for children with brain injuries. Toni loved motor homing and experiencing different cultures with her husband Joe. One of her favorite memories and accomplishments was hiking the Narrows of Zion National Park along the Virgin River. 17 miles in, and another 17 miles out while all along, not being able to swim a lick. “Hoof It In” was one of her favorite mottos. Toni rarely passed on an opportunity to go shopping and always had the baritone voice of Rush Limbaugh on the radio in the background of wherever she ventured.
Toni was preceded in death by her son, Greg Hardesty; infant daughter, Tracy Hardesty; daughter-in-law, Dawn Hardesty; sister-in-law, Judith Gabriel and her beloved cockapoo, Harley.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Joe Savone; loving son, Jeff Hardesty; beloved brother, Ron Gabriel; dear daughter-in-law, Susan Hardesty; dear brother-in-law, Fire Chief Dave (Cindy) Savone; sisters-in-law, Dr. Roberta Roche, Shellye Pechulis & Marilyn Hammonds; grateful grandchildren, Dr. Juliet (Brad) Hardesty Balber, Gloria Willow Hardesty, Noah Hardesty and Jonah Hardesty; dear nieces & nephews, Nicole, Kim, Kevin, Stephanie, Buddy, Joe, John, Cory & Shellye and a host of dear friends.
