

She was born in Madison, Wisconsin, to Milton
G. and Evelyn E. (Scharf) Zurfluh on July 8, 1936. She graduated from high school in Augusta, Georgia and received a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her Master's Degree in Educational Psychology was earned at Butler University, Indianapolis, and her Ph.D. degree in Educational Psychology from Indiana University-Bloomington.
Dr. Weeks began her career in Occupational Therapy in Indianapolis, working at Crossroads Rehabilitation Center, Wishard Memorial Hospital, and Roudebush Veterans Administration Hospital before assuming a faculty position in the Occupational Therapy programs at the Indiana University Medical Center. While there, she received the Division of Allied Health Sciences Distinguished Teaching Award.
After fifteen years at the medical center, she became the founding director of the graduate programs in occupational therapy at the University of Indianapolis, where she remained for eight years before retiring from university teaching. She then was a school psychologist for the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township and an occupational therapist for the Carmel-Clay Schools, Carmel, Indiana.
Dr. Weeks was active professionally, serving as president of the Indiana Occupational Therapy Association and the Indiana Allied Health Association. She received the Occupational Therapist of the Year award in 1981.
Nationally, she was on the Board of Directors of the American Occupational Therapy Foundation, received two service awards from the American Occupational Therapy Association, and was named a fellow of the AOTA.
In addition to presentations and articles, she had chapters published in several books (both occupational therapy and psychology), and she co-authored the career handbook, Opportunities in Occupational Therapy Careers. She was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church and was active in United Methodist Women. She was a member of P.E.O., Chapter EH in Noblesville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Thomas H. Weeks; her parents Milton G. and Evelyn E. Zurfluh, and her sister Patricia Z. Miller. Dotty is survived by her son Dr. Gregory T. Weeks (Gerit) of Vienna, Austria and daughter, Amy C. Kristensen (Michael) of Westfield, IN; two grandchildren, Hailey Haynes (Nathan) of Noblesville, IN, and Ian Kristensen, of Cincinnati, OH and two great grandchildren, Everett and Sayla Haynes of Noblesville, IN.
Calling will be from 4 p.m to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025 at Leppert Mortuary Nora Chapel, 740 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46240. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Union Chapel United Methodist Church, 2720 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46240. Burial will follow at Union Chapel Cemetery.
