Beloved wife of Donald B. for 52 years and loving mother of Johnny, Rodney (Ellen), Lisa (Brian), Danny, and Mindy (Jeremy). She was an adored Nana to Brett, Logan, Marli, Jake, Jamie, Bailee, Maria, Maddie and Jack. Loyal sister and friend to John MacLean, Roddie (Myrna) MacLean, the late Patsy (Blair) Joseph, Gus (Jessie) MacLean, Wayne (Jocelyne) MacLean and Alice (Victor) Campbell. Best friend to Marjorie Graham, and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Marie was the daughter of the late Libby and Angus Anthony MacLean West Mabou.
One of Mom’s first jobs was at Hart’s in Mabou where she met the love of her life, Donnie. Marie loved her job and coworkers at Mary’s Hill Home over the last twenty years until her retirement. She cared for the residents like they were her own children.
Marie was an avid fan of hockey as she never missed any of her sons’ hockey games or her sons driving horses. She loved the many harness racing trips with Donnie all over the Maritimes. Marie loved being surrounded by family and having a kitchen full of people. Many card games were played over the years with Donnie and she loved winning against her husband. What will be sorely missed is her unending, unconditional love for her children, grandchildren and husband. There is nobody quite like her. She was a nurturer and a friend to everyone. Visitation will be held in Port Hood & Area Resting Place on Tuesday November 22 from 2-7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, Port Hood with Fr. Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only please. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Marie may be made to the Central Inverness Palliative Care Society or to St. Peter's Parish Cemetery Fund, Port Hood. On behalf of Marie/Mom/Nana we’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to the many hardworking and compassionate staff at the Oceanview Villa in Inverary Manor and also the wonderful nursing staff at the Inverness Hospital. Thanks to all family and friends for all the support, food, visits, and phone calls to Hawthorne. The kindness and extra efforts from so many people was humbling and so appreciative.
