

Annie Jane was born on December 5th, 1924, to the late John James and Margaret (Gillis) MacInnis. She was also known by loved ones as “The Queen of the Hill”. As a young woman, Annie Jane worked at the factory in Mabou Harbor, the Asylum in Mabou and as a domestic in Halifax. On May 6th, 1952, she married Alexander Beaton of North East Mabou. Together they raised a family of twelve children on the old homestead at North East Mabou. Annie Jane loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally. She was a wonderful mother, cook, friend and neighbor. Annie Jane loved a good game of cards, stories, Gaelic conversation, music, visitors, and a great laugh.
Annie Jane is survived by her children, Jimmy (Sarah), Orangedale; Charlie (Colleen) North East Mabou; Olga (Ron) Lindsey, Ontario; Leonard (Terry), North East Mabou; Donna (David) Cameron, Mabou; Johnny Paul (Leslie), Mabou Coal Mines; Camillus (Shelly), Moffat, Ontario; Michael, Toronto Ontario; Janice (Craig), Mississauga Ontario; Richard (Norma), Glenora Falls; twenty two grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren. Annie Jane is also survived by her brothers, John Donald Lake Ainslie; Richard Mabou Harbour; Doug (Sylvia), Ontario; her sister, Catherine Mabou Harbour; her lifelong friend, Christy Rankin, numerous nieces and nephews. Annie Jane was predeceased by her husband Alexander; sons, Francis, Camillus and David; brothers, Blaise, Jim Kerr, Alex and her sister Marie.
Visitation will be held in the vestry of St. Mary’s Church, Mabou on Thursday, April 30th from 2-4 and 7- 9 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 11a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Mabou with Father Angus Morris officiating; burial to follow in the parish cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society.
