

MacLean, Donald Hugh - Age 94 of Scotsville, passed away peacefully in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Monday Jan 12, 2015, after a brief illness. Born in Inverness on August 6, 1920, he was a son of the late Dan J and Mary Anne (Wilcox) MacLean. Donald was a man of simplicity, he loved nature and especially loved his cat Daisy. Donald was a hardworking man, and worked as a blacksmith, a carpenter and in later years drove a snow plow for the Department of Transportation. Donald is survived by his son, Brian (Anne), Scotsville; nieces, Brenda (Ragnar) Odegard, Norway; Linda (Dale) Buckley, SW Margaree; Georgina (Danny) MacIntyre, Ontario; grandchildren, Donnie and David MacLean, Ontario; Josh MacLean, Truro; Maggie MacLean, New York; Abby MacLean, Belgium. He was predeceased by his wife, Nellie; brothers, George and John Thomas; daughter, Margaret; sons, Wayne, John Alexander, and Benjamin in infancy. Visitation will be held in Inverness Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 13, from 5-9pm. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11am in East Lake Ainslie Presbyterian Church, East Lake Ainslie with Pastor Louis Ihasz celebrating. Burial at a later date in Lake Ainslie Cemetery, East Lake Ainslie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of choice.
