Irene Alice Shaw

Irene Alice Shaw, Age 90, of Margaree Valley, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a brief illness. Born in Margaree Valley on October 25, 1924, Irene was a daughter of the late Irad and Jessie (Ross) Morrison. Irene was a member of the Margaree Valley Baptist Church and spend many years as a Sunday School teacher and girl group leader. Her greatest love besides her family was her flower and vegetable garden where she spend many hours planting and nurturing to share with others. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Walter. Survived by her children, Myrtle, New Glasgow; James (Pat), Margaree Valley; Curtis, Margaree Valley; and Susan, New Glasgow. Irene is also survived by 8 grand children; 15 great-grandchildren; and sevev great great- grandchildren; sister, Grace Heatley, Dartmouth; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers, James, Ross, Irad, Carey; sister, Annie and baby sister, Mrytle Jessie in infancy.

Visitation to be held Saturday, December 6, 2014 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. in Margaree Valley Baptist Church followed with the funeral service at 2 p.m. with nephew, Pastor Hugh Morrison celebrating. Burial to follow in Margaree Valley Baptist Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made to Margaree Valley Baptist Sunday School or charity of your choice.
