

MacDonald, John Francis- 85, Harbourview, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2012, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. John Francis was born in Little Judique July 11, 1927, the oldest of the “Big John’s”, son of the late Angus D and Margaret (Livingstone) MacDonald. He is survived by his children, Carol Anne (late Gord), Dartmouth; Roderick “Rory” (Wanda), Yarmouth; Wayne (Shirley),Oshawa, Ont.; Margaret “Debbie” (Jordan), Harbourview; Raymond (Sherry),Creston, B.C.; Sheldon (Shelley),Halifax; their mother, Rose Gillis; his grandchildren, John, Brandy, Clayton, Jenna, Ashley, David, Jordan, Laura, Jeffrey, Selena, Darren, Devin, Heidi, Dylan, Aristotle, Xavier, Quinn, Reese; his great-grandchildren, Spencer, Alyssa, Aidan, Scarlett, Xavier; his siblings, Cameron (Theresa), Syl (Jeanette), Rose (Sonny), Helen and Elizabeth. He was predeceased by brothers, Roderick “Doddie”, Neil “Neily” (Tootsie), and two sisters in infancy. John Francis was known for his love for his children, his love of plants and flowers. His one-liners were always witty; a favorite saying was “Be good to the old people and to the young people.” Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 18 in Port Hood Resting Place from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will be held at 11 am on Thursday in St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Port Hood with Fr. Vincent VanZutphen officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mutiple Sclerosis Society, Atlantic Division or to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society.
