

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of John Joseph MacLean, age,75. John passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March, 12, 2017. He was born and raised in Mabou. To many in the area he was called "Crazy John" and he loved it.
In the early years he worked in Toronto but his roots were calling him back. He came home to Cape Breton to run the Irving garage in Whycocomagh. Later John went on to work for one of his closest friends Carmen Campbell as a truck driver for 42 yrs. John enjoyed taking in the horse races with his buddies and making trips to the Freshmart to see who he could pick on that day. He also enjoyed getting together most Sunday's with his closest friends to play cards. John made his home in Kenloch with Bonnie and his 3 children. He returned to his hometown of Mabou, where it would become his final resting place.
John was a son to the late Angus Anthony & Libby (MacKenzie) (West Mabou). He is survived by his sons, Blair(Raylene),Inverness; Conrad(Shirley),Kenloch; daughters, Ellen(Steven),Amherst; Natalie, Ontario; grandchildren, Rian, Brody, Ella Rae, Kate, Rory and Emmie; siblings, Roddie (Myrna), Gussie (Jessie), Wayne (Jocelyn), Alice (Victor); many nieces and nephews; first wife, Ann (Natalie); second wife, Bonnie Jean. Predeceased by siblings, Marie (Donald B.), Patsy,(Blair); nephew Keith. John "Poppy" will be deeply missed by all that knew him. May you Rest In Peace Dad
Visitation will take place in St. Mary's Church Vestry, Mabou on Sunday, March 19th from 3-7 p.m. Funeral Monday, March 20th at 11a.m. with Fr. Bernie MacDonald officiating. Burial to follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donation's can be made in memory of John to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society or to St. Mary's Parish Hall, Mabou.
