Born March 31,1948 to parents William (Bill DJ) and Jennie (Archie N) (Mac Isaac) Mac Donald, Judique.
Being the oldest daughter, she didn’t take long to become a mother hen to her siblings, especially to her younger sisters. She helped at home by doing barn chores, making meals, baking, cleaning and assisting her father at his store DJ Mac Donald and Son and even learning braille when “Daddy” went blind.
In November of 1974, she married John Archie and settled on the hill in Harbourview, where that strong work ethic continued and raised her two children Darrell and Marie.
She valued the importance of family and friends, often babysitting and looking after the elders. Often times she would tell stories of growing up and the fun adventures that she had with her siblings, cousins and neighbors.
She lived a simple and quiet life, enjoyed the company of her cat Buddy, dog Bumba and grand dogs, Sammy, Betsy and Ebby, gardening, taking a walk to the woods and a cherished phone call to many that always included a good laugh.
We as her family were blessed with many of her knitting projects, delicious meals, especially turkey dinners and lobster suppers and baked goods.
Julia is survived by her husband, John; son, Darrell (Sue); daughter, Marie; brother,John ”Jake”(Jeannie); and sisters, Charlotte (Richard), Colleen (Fred).
In-laws, Donald, Leon (Mary), Bill (Willanna), Frank and Marie and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Jennie; brothers, James ”Sobey", and Donald Francis; son-in-law, Derek; parents-in-law, Micheal and Lexina; brother-in-law, Joe and sister-in-law, Mary Catherine.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 20th from 4-8 pm in Port Hood and Area Resting Place. Funeral Mass will be held in Saint Peter’s Parish Church, Port Hood on Saturday, October 21 at 11 am. Burial to follow in Saint Andrew’s Parish Cemetery, Judique.
