Laura Gertrude Campbell

Campbell (MacDonald) Laura Gertrude – Age 91, of Glencoe Mills, passed away July 8th, 2014, in the Palliative Care Unit,the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in Glencoe Mills on October 25th, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Alexander “Soec” and Sarah Jane (MacNamara) MacDonald. Laura was a lady of strong faith, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her. Laura was predeceased by her husband, John Duncan Campbell; her son, Daniel "DA" MacDonald; sisters, Annie Jane, Jessie and Mary; brothers, Allen, Dan Alfred, George, Johnnie, Maurice and Ronald Joseph. Laura is survived by her children, Samuel Campbell (Shirley) of Milford Mass.; Mary-Ann Boucher (Guy) of Waltham, Mass.; and Annette Dubé (Jean-Pierre) of Bedford. Laura is also survived by her sister, Rita Catherine Henry (Elliot) of Halifax; brother, Alex MacDonald, of Detroit, Mich.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Laura was a member of the Ladies Alter Society and was a very active member in her community. Laura was a great cook and loved to share her baking. Her specialty was clover leaf rolls. She liked to play bingo but in her later years her true passion was attending and “winning” at the local card plays. Visitation will be in Glencoe Mills Hall on Friday July 11th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated with Father Bernie MacDonald at 11a.m. Saturday July 12th, in St. Joseph's Church, Glencoe Mills. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph's Church or to St. Joseph's Parish Cemetery Fund, Glencoe.
