Charlene and family, so very sorry to hear about your mother.  I remember visiting your parents when we would go to Gillisdale and the delicious lunch and tea your mother would make us. Sincere condolences to your family.

My family, the Berger’s we’re blessed to spend our summers in Gillisdale and even a winter. Angus Jim & Mary Anne were our neighbors. They became fast friends. Mary Anne was always happy and very hospitable. And oh, those biscuits.
I have no doubt she is smiling & sharing her biscuits and beautiful spirit in heaven.

I spent a summer at the farm. Uncle Angus let me take the horse for a ride, with a stern warning- HE IS A WORK HORSE. JUST WALK HIM. I proceeded to pick up one of the Burger boys. Of course we started trotting the horse and we both fell off. The horse went straight to the barn. When I got back Uncle Angus was waiting with his arms folded and Aunt Anne was in the background snickering. She was always quick with a smile or a laugh. She will be missed and always warmly remembered.

  My visits to Cape Breton were the highlight of my summer vacation as a child  and I always enjoyed my aunt 's many baked treats,  especially her warm biscuits. My trips to Cape Breton will never be the same but, my memories of her will not be forgotten.  Rest in peace Aunt Mary Anne

Mary Ann and Angus Jim were our go to people when we first moved to Gillisdale. They were like grandparents to our children and we loved them dearly. Rest easy my friend and thanks for great memories.

As a kid I spent several wonderful summers on the farm  in Gillisdale . Ann always took good care of us even if we didn't deserve it. I'm sure we were difficult bratty little kids.
