Mary Jessie Mac Leod Mac Quarrie

MacQuarrie, Mary Jessie – 84, passed away Tuesday, December 27th, 2011, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital with family by her side. Born in Glencoe Station on January 18th, 1927, Mary Jessie was the daughter of the late Patrick and Elizabeth (Moran) MacLeod. Mary Jessie lived most of her life in Glencoe, but spent the last seven years as a resident of Inverary Manor, Inverness. Mary Jessie worked at Mary’s Hill Home, Mabou. She loved to enjoy a cup of tea with her specialty homemade oatcakes and biscuits. She is survived by children, Jessie (Garrie) MacLean, Ruby (Blaise) Campbell, Neil (Ruth O’Connell) MacDonald, Philiomena (Harry) Lewis, Lillian (late Stewart) Beaton, Catherine (Dennis) Hurley, Archie (Brenda) MacDonald, Eddie (Maureen) MacDonald; brother, John Richard MacLeod; 23 grand children and 11 great-grand children. She is predeceased by first husband, Dixon MacDonald; and second husband, Cecil MacQuarrie; daughters, Elizabeth, Mary Elizabeth and sons, DJ and Paddy; brothers, Joe MacLeod, Donald MacLeod; sisters, Kaye MacDonald and Flora MacDonald. Visitation will be held in the Vestry of St. Mary’s Church, Mabou on Thursday December 29th, from 7-9pm and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 31, at 2pm in St. Joseph’s Church, Glencoe with Fr. Bernie MacDonald officiating. Family flowers only, please. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Cemetery Fund, Glencoe, Central Inverness Palliative Care Society or to Inverary Manor, Inverness.
