Raymond was Principal in Mabou when I taught there in the late '70s.   He was always a mild, kind and gentle man, and a true gentleman.  My condolences to his family.   He's now reunited with Theresa. ❤️

Please accept my sincere condolences at this difficult time. As a student at Mabou Consolidated school in 1966-67 I always enjoyed conversations with Raymond about growing up in his home country

Famous school trip to the lake with Mr DuBont!   He is on the far right cooking up the burgers.  Sorry about the quality of photos we did not have the luxury of digital cameras back then!

I remember the story he relayed at the Remembrance Day Service at MCS one year.   During WWII, his family had very little food.   His mother was constantly trying to feed them all and one day she road a bike 12 km one way,  on a bike that did not have rubber tires but only rims, to pick up some eggs.    He expressed gratitude for Canada’s contribution in ending the war and for all the people Canada took in following the war.     When he became our home teacher he  hosted us at his home at Lake Ainsley.    Just him and 35 teenagers running around, swimming in the lake and having loads of fun.    He BBQ’ed hamburgers for us all, daring  those who wanted to try the patties “very pink” .   Mr DuBont was an incredible teacher who lead in a kind and firm manner.   We are fortunate to have his children and theirs in our communities to carry on both Raymond and Theresa’s legacy.

Condolences to Maria and JJ and their families on the loss of their Dad and Grandfather.  He had such interest in the grandchildren's sports, you would always see him at the Rink for their hockey.  He will be missed by all, Rest In Peace Raymond.

You will be missed. It was a pleasure to have know and had many visits with you. May you rest in peace and forever be in the hearts of family and those who have known you. 🙏

I am very sorry to hear of Raymond's passing. He taught me Grade 8 and was a lovely teacher.  I enjoyed listening to his stories as there was always a lesson to be learned. My sincere condolences to all of his family. Rest in peace.

He was the son of Anna (Stienstra) and Joseph de Bont. He immigrated to Canada in 1958. He was predeceased by his parents and his dear wife Theresa (Fifoot). He was the proud father of Maria (Gordie) MacLean and John Joseph (Lyndsay LeVangie) de Bont; and the proud and loving Opa of Ellie, Dylan, Payton, Cullen MacLean and Auralee, Natiya, Lachlan, Ashlyn de Bont.
