

It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Stanley Alexander MacDonald announce his passing at
the age of 58 in the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital on June 30, 2012, after a courageous
battle with cancer.
Born in Mabou, N.S., Stanley was a son of the late Angus and Catherine Ann (MacEachen) MacDonald.
Stanley lived in Vancouver, BC, for the past number of years. As a member of the Construction &
Specialized Workers’ Union, he worked on various construction jobs over the years.
Stanley will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor, his musical talent, his kindness and
generosity to others, his resilience, and his strong attachment to his Cape Breton roots. Stanley enjoyed
music, playing his guitars, and writing poetry and songs. He had a remarkable memory of the past, and
he always maintained and nurtured many friendships from his youth.
Stanley is survived by his sisters, Betty (Jerome) Tracey, Port Hawkesbury; Mary Lehto, Hamilton;
his brothers, Alexander MacDonald, Port Hood; Francis MacDonald (Catherine), Craigmore; his
sister-in law, Shirley MacDonald, Mabou; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was
predeceased by his brothers, Donald and Stanley.
According to Stanley’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m.
in the Port Hood and Area Resting Place. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Mabou.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Inverness Palliative Care,
or a charity of your choice.
