

Herman was born on August 3, 1929, in Sweetwater, Texas, to the late Herman Lelan Hardin Sr. and Grace Porterfield. Herman served in the U.S. Air Force proudly for 20 years.
After his military service, Herman had a successful career as a Title Examiner and Escrow Officer at Guarantee Title for 35 years. He was known for his dedication and attention to detail in his profession.
Herman was a devoted family man and leaves behind a loving legacy. He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Lanita Hardin, his son Herman Lelan Hardin III and wife Helen, his daughter Margaret Anne Hardin O'Brien, his son Russell Paul Hardin, and his son John Howard Hardin. He is also survived by his grandchildren Michael Wayne O'Brien, Virginia Anne Park, Herman Lelan Hardin IIII, Lisa Marie Rice, Danielle Breanne Hardin, and Zachary Sean Hardin, as well as six great-grandchildren.
Herman was preceded in passing by his parents and one sister.
In his free time, Herman enjoyed woodworking, playing bridge, and watching sports on TV. When he was younger, he was an avid bowler. He loved reading science fiction novels and had a sweet tooth for bite-sized chocolate chip cookies.
Herman was a member of Rephidim Church in Wichita Falls, Texas, where served as chairman of the board of deacons for 35 years.
