

IOWA PARK – Jeana Shay Jones passed away December 5, 2009, at Medical City Hospital, Dallas, from heart failure. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2009 at First Baptist Church, Iowa Park with burial at Highland Cemetery in Iowa Park. Bro. Glen Pearce, Pastor, First Baptist Church and Jeff Bennett, Chaplain, North Texas State Hospital will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel and Thursday morning at the First Baptist Church Sanctuary beginning at 10:30 a.m.Jeana was born in Wichita Falls on September 11, 1985. She had many, many friends and was very outgoing, energetic and creative. She was a graduate of Iowa Park High School, having been a member of the Iowa Park High School band all 4 years and a member of the flag corps for 3 years. She received a Who’s Who in Apparel and was also a member of FFA. Receiving a scholarship from the Rotary Club of Iowa Park and the Santa Rosa District of Texas Federation of Women’s Clubs, Jeana attended North Texas State University where she was a member of the Talons spirit organization. She graduated from Texas Tech University in May, 2009, with a major in Interior Design and a minor in Architecture. Jeana was nominated for the Glenda Goodacre Award. Jeana was Vice President of the Raider Pilot’s Association. Jeana enjoyed flying, designing, decorating cakes and working with children. She served as a life guard and taught swimming at the Camp Fire summer camp for about 7 years. Jeana did her Interior Design internship with Secord and Lebow in Wichita Falls. For her first real job after college, Jeana was employed by Dillard’s in visual design at North Park Mall in Dallas.Jeana attended Denton Bible Church while she studied at North Texas and Paradigm while at Texas Tech in Lubbock.Jeana was preceded in death by her father Thomas Johnson, Jr.; her paternal great-grandparents, Elvy and Irene Sargent; and her maternal grandparents, Marvin and Edith Jones.Survivors include her mother Sedalia Jones of Iowa Park, her brother, Mark Hoffman of Wichita Falls, and her sister Rachel Johnson of McKinney, Texas. She is also survived by her grandparents, Thomas and Jean Johnson of Iowa Park, and her very best friend Joey Johnson of Cedar Hill. Aunts and Uncles include Kathy and Brad Payne and their children Michael and Mason of Lubbock; Tammy and Frank Johnson and sons, J.C., Jake, Jett, and Jaxx of Colorado City, Texas and her step-mother Michele Johnson with whom she lived.Also surviving are her very favorite little nieces Lauren and Emilie Hoffman, her aunts and uncles Jean and Cliff Jones, Janet and Marvin Jones, Betty and Jimmy Jones all of Wichita Falls, Ann and Andy Berend of Windthorst, and Estelle and Court Worthington of Lewisburg, Tennessee.Memorials may be made to Camp Fire USA, 2414 Ninth Street, Wichita Falls, Texas 76301.
