Shirley Ann Bond

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the First Christian Church of Iowa Park, with Pastor Roger Deerinwater officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home of Iowa Park.

Visitation with family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, May 2, 2014, in the Reception Room at Dutton Funeral Home.

Shirley was born June 1, 1945 in Houston, Texas, to Obie and Georgie (Hayes) Stafford. Shirley attended school in Haskell, Texas and Carnegie, Oklahoma, and graduated from Electra High School, Electra, Texas. She married the love of her life, Teddy G. Bond on May 26, 1963. Ted and Shirley celebrated 50 years of marriage on May 26, 2013.

Shirley and Ted lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where she owned and operated her own accounting service. In 1983, Shirley and Ted moved to Arlee, Montana, where they lived until 2008, when they bought their home in Iowa Park. From that time until the present, they lived in Montana during the summer months and returned to Texas for the winter. Just recently retired, Shirley and Ted returned to Iowa Park to live year-round.

Known as “Aunt Shirley” or “Auntie,” Shirley loved each and every one of her numerous nieces and nephews. Although she had no children of her own, all of the nieces and nephews were her “babies.” Shirley helped raise many of them and considered each one her “kid” or “grandkid.” Shirley loved having everyone come to her house for holidays and was the happiest when surrounded by the kids.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Ted G. Bond; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Sandra Stafford of Arlee, Montana; and sister, Linda Posey, of Iowa Park. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Obie and Georgie Stafford; sister, Billie Jean Campbell and brother-in-law, Chuck Campbell and nephew, Ricky Campbell. She leaves behind nieces, Jeanne Dobbs of Ft. Worth, Texas; DeDe Tatom of Iowa Park; Kim Mikesell of Great Falls, Montana and Marla Christensen of Forest Grove, Oregon; nephews, Larry Campbell of Ada, Oklahoma, Tony Stafford of Arlee, Montana and Michael Hegwood of Saint Ignatius, Montana; 14 great nieces and nephews; and 18 great-great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arlee Senior Citizens Center in Arlee, Montana, where Shirley volunteered her time for many years.
