COLUMBIA - Mrs. Barbara Elaine Sanders Munn Moore, of Columbia, died Thursday morning after an extended illness. Mrs. Moore was born in Camden, April 17, 1932, a daughter of the late Sadie Rebecca Monroe and William Allen Sanders. She was employed with SCN Bank, The Department of Mental Health, and with her late husband, Lockard Archie (L.A.) Munn, Jr., as owners and operators of Laurel Printing Company, Inc. Surviving are her daughters, Cheryl (Tom) Timberlake and Wanda (Greg) Studemeyer, all of Columbia; grandchildren, John (Melissa) Timberlake of Columbia, Dory (Morgan) Rogers of Charlotte, NC, Ryan Studemeyer and Collin Studemeyer of Columbia and J.Bradley Studemeyer (Catherine) of Cambridge, MA; great-grandchildren, Jackson Timberlake of Columbia, Elaine and Maisie Rogers of Charlotte, NC. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 36 years, L.A., who shared her hobbies of gardening and boating and her love for animals. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, William “Bill” Francis Moore, Jr., to whom she was married for 15 years. Bill and Barbara lived in Churchton, Maryland where they were active in organizing the annual Shrimp Feasts as a fundraiser for their church, Our Lady of Sorrows, West River MD. They were volunteers for Meals on Wheels and were very involved in helping community residents in need. Barbara was a lady of great compassion for people and animals alike. Their home along the Chesapeake Bay was always a safe haven for every bird, squirrel, opossum, cat or dog that was fortunate enough to cross their paths. After returning to Columbia in 2009, she was a resident of Agape Harbison where she considered herself the Villa's “unofficial greeter” to newcomers. She developed many special friendships with residents and employees over the near six years she lived at Agape. The family would like to acknowledge the kindness shown during her time there. The family would also like to acknowledge her wonderful doctors and their staffs: Dr. Vaughn Barnick, Dr. Daniel Bouknight and Dr. Marsh Willis; the nurses and caregivers at Providence Hospital; the nurses, therapists, and staff at HealthSouth Rehab Hospital of Columbia; the sitters and staff with BeWell Home Services; the compassionate skilled care nurses, therapists and staff at The Heritage at Lowman Rehab; and Lutheran Hospice whose nurses and staff were there for her and the family as Barbara's last days approached. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park, conducted by Fr. Bernard P. Kyara. It was Barbara's wish that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Calvert Animal Welfare League (CAWL), Post Office Box 1660, Prince Frederick MD 20678.
