

Bobby Joe King, age 84, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016 in Lexington, SC. He was born on April 21, 1931 in Winfield, Kansas. Bob is survived by his son Robert Kevin (wife, Nena) of San Antonio, TX; daughter Renee Kim King Hite (husband, Kenny) of Chapin, SC, as well as his grandchildren: Jeffrey and James King of San Antonio; Hannah Hite of Chapin; Kody and Kory King and step-grandson’s Donnie and Tommy Baker all of Montgomery, AL. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Jeanice (Hickson), and his son Richard Kyle King. After graduating from high school in Winfield, KS, Bob went to work for Boeing in Wichita. He then began what would be a lifelong career in General Merchandising, by becoming a clerk at CR Anthony’s Clothing Store. While working there, he also enlisted in the Kansas National Guard obtaining the rank of Lieutenant. After being promoted to Department Store Manager, he continued in this field of work in San Diego, CA, Falfurrias, TX and on to George West, TX. He was then hired by the Texas grocery chain HEB in Corpus Christi TX to begin their non-foods division. Continuing to further his career opportunities he worked in Huntsville AL, Scranton, PA, and returning to the South, retired at W. Lee Flowers in Lake City, SC in the 90’s. He and Jan retired to Lake Marion in the Santee area and loved fishing on the lake. Bob was a loving and kind husband, father, and grandfather. He was a very friendly man who never met a stranger. He had a huge sense of humor, loved to entertain, and loved flirting with the ladies. He will be missed dearly. A private memorial service is scheduled at a later date. The family would like to thank Agape’ Harbison Senior Living and Agape’ Hospice House of Lexington for the loving care of our father.
