

WWII Veteran Major (Ret) Bruce Mackay Larrabee, Jr.,100 years old, died May16,2025. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 10:30 am in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 1659 Kershaw Hwy, Camden, SC 29020.
Mr. Larrabee was born February 5, 1925 in Lakewood, NJ. He was the son of the late Bruce Mackay Larrabee, Sr. and Josephine Elizabeth McKey Larrabee Lynch Hodskins. He graduated from Springfield Massachusetts High School and began college, served four years in the U.S. Engineers Corps including two years overseas duty, Pacific Theater. He returned to college and earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from NC State University. Bruce served with the US Army Corp of Engineers for 22 years. He served as Engineering Manager with Dupont, Camden for 35 years. Bruce served on the Sumter Tech Commission, was a representative for the Kershaw County School Board (16 yrs) and Small Business, he volunteered as a tax consultant for AARP, he was President of the SC Society of Engineers, Camden Chapter, Vice President of the Cotillion Dance Club, volunteered for Junior Chamber of Commerce, he was a member of the Camden Country Club and organized many golf trips. He was an active charter member of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church, Camden SC and did the draft/built the original structure of the church. In March 2011, he and his wife, Lucille Dry Larrabee moved from their beloved home of 53 years in Camden SC to The Heritage at Lowman, White Rock, SC. Bruce enjoyed playing golf at Mid-Carolina Golf Course. He volunteered at the Heritage as Layman for the church, manned the front desk, and was an escort golf cart driver. He loved traveling with his wife through Europe, RVing through North America and cruising through the Caribbean. He was a loving husband and took great joy in his children and their families.
He is survived by his brother, John Matoon (Skip) Hodskins, children; Kay Larrabee Horton (Phillip B. Horton); Donna Larrabee McMurray (Thomas D. McMurray); Bruce M. Larrabee, III (Beth Tarrer Larrabee); and Chad Luther Larrabee (Marilyn Davis Larrabee). He is also survived by his loving grandchildren; Danna Horton Misenheimer (John); Donna Horton Joye; Lindsey McMurray Zyrski (Chris); P. Brice Horton, Haley Kay McMurray (Britton); Blake Larrabee, C. Davis Larrabee, Grace Larrabee, Anna Elizabeth Kelley (Joshua), Catherine Larrabee, and Mitchell Larrabee. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Hayden, Karsyn, Madelyn, Layton, and Gia. Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Lucille, a sister, Antoinette Lynch Cooper, sister Lucy Larrabee and brother, Robert Fowler Lynch.
