Wayne played football and graduated from Chapin High School. In 1966, he joined the SC National Guard. He worked in the Combined Support Maintenance Department full time for 21 years. After retirement from SCNG, he worked with the Department of Mental Health for 10 years. Wayne was a Mr. Fix It and was very mechanically skilled. He was a good husband, father, and grandfather.
Surviving Wayne are his wife of 53 years, Francis Weed Haltiwanger; daughter, Dawn; son, Michael (Fatma); grandchildren, Furkan and Jessica; brother, Heyward (Diana); sister, Joann; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Anita and John Cable; two nieces, Melissa and Stacey; and one nephew, Patrick.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Salem United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
