

IRMO - A funeral service for Charles “Chuck” Lattuca, Jr., 83, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2016 at Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, with burial in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, is assisting the family. Mr. Lattuca died Wednesday, May 4, 2016. Born in Maryland, he was the son of the late Cologero Lattuca, Sr. and Ruth Wheeler Lattuca. He served in the U.S. Army for 33 years and was the retired owner of Chucks Auto Truck Plaza in Lexington. Mr. Lattuca was a member of the Elks Club in Sumter and V.F.W. Post 10420 of Murrells Inlet. As a Nascar Driver from the 1950’s to the 1970’s, he held the record for the fastest lap at Sumter Speedway. Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Horne Lattuca; daughters, Charlene Weeks (Tommy) of Irmo, Tracy Hawks (Rick) of Irmo and Barbara Sue Haltibridle (Wally) of Maryland; son, Charles “Chip” Lattuca, III of Tennessee; stepchildren, Nancy H. Walton (Johnny) of Sumter, Hal Hatfield of Spartanburg, Jeffrey Alan Love of Arlington, VA and Kimberly Dawn Richardson (Steve) of Monroe, NC; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Florence Duke and Alverda Jordan.
