

Charmaine Laverne Murray, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024. Born in Chicago, Illinois on May 3, 1941, Charmaine was the cherished daughter of Henry and Jean Urbanowicz.
Charmaine's early years were dedicated to her family as a stay-at-home mom, a role she embraced with grace and devotion. Her passion for detail and organization led her to a fulfilling career at Irving Federal Savings, where she rose to the position of Vice President of Loans over two decades. She later contributed her talents to Tenneco Products, working closely with executives and making a significant impact.
On June 16, 1960, Charmaine married the love of her life, Donald Patrick Murray. They celebrated 64 wonderful years of marriage together. Charmaine and Donald's journey together took them from Chicago to South Carolina, where they spent half of each year before moving here full-time in 2014.
Charmaine is survived by her loving husband, Donald; her sister, Christine Lecinski; her children, Kevin Murray (Meridith), Paul Murray (Kathleen), and Susanne Pender (Preston); her grandchildren, Laura Russell, Shannon Murray, Patton Pender, Jennifer Pender, and Aidan Pender; and four great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
Throughout her life, Charmaine enjoyed a variety of hobbies including sewing, bowling, playing cards, traveling, golfing, and tackling household projects. Her vibrant spirit and zest for life were evident in all she did.
In the final year of her life, Charmaine and Donald resided at the Presbyterian Home in Lexington, where they continued to share their love and laughter with those around them.
Charmaine will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her sharp mind, and her warm heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held to honor her memory on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 2:00 pm at The Columbia Presbyterian Community Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until 2:00 pm prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association in Charmaine's name.
