Clifford Padgett (C.P.) Hodge Jr.

Clifford Padgett Hodge, Jr., affectionately known as C.P., was born on June 6, 1952, in Columbia, SC. The eldest of five children to Clifford Padgett Hodge Sr. and Glenn Addison Hodge, he spent his formative years in Sumter, SC. C.P. graduated from Sumter High School in 1970 and went on to complete his college education. In 1983, he married his high school sweetheart, embarking on a life filled with love and companionship.

C.P. and his wife moved from Sumter to Columbia, SC, where he built a distinguished career as a General Contractor in commercial construction, spanning 33 years. Known for his dedication and skill, he left an indelible mark on Columbia through his numerous projects and buildings. In 2015, C.P. relocated to Greenville, SC, and after a brief retirement, he returned to his passion in the construction field.

On December 18, 2023, C.P. passed away, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and enduring relationships. He had the unique ability to connect with people everywhere, leaving a trail of friendships and fond memories. C.P. truly never met a stranger!

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Priscilla Walton Hodge; his son, Clifford Padgett Hodge III (Lindsey) of Chapin, SC, three grandchildren, Finn, Jack and Addy Rose; his son Seth Walton Hodge of Atlanta, GA; his brother, John Daniel (Danny) Hodge (Suzanne) of Columbia, SC; sisters, Jeanne Hodge Griffith of Sumter, SC, JoNelle Hodge Gaither (Bill) of Fort Mill, SC, and Virginia (Ginger) Hodge of Edisto Beach, SC. His legacy continues through his 7 nephews and nieces and14 great-nephews and nieces.

We invite family and friends to join us in celebrating C.P.'s life on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm at the Meech House, Mungo Park, 2121 Lake Murray Blvd, Columbia, SC 29212-0952.
