

IRMO - A funeral service for Dan Belton, 84, will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2020 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, with burial in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2020 at the funeral home.
Mr. Belton passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2020. Born in Boligee, AL on November 29, 1935, he was a son of the late Willie Belton, Sr. and Mary Kate Byrd Belton.
Dan served in the U.S. Army and retired in 2001 from Dial Corporation in Ft. Madison, Iowa. He was an avid Bible studier and Sunday School teacher, who loved his family, the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, and he will be deeply missed.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Geraldine Belton; daughter, Sabrina Hartman (Tim) of Little Mountain, SC; son, Danny Belton (Deanna) of Brandon, FL; grandchildren, Jeremy Hartman (Allison) of St. Louis, MO, Rachel Mowery (Michael) of Washington, DC, Anna Anderson (Steven) of Alexandria, VA, Christian Hartman of Little Mountain, Daniel Belton of Brandon, FL, and Dane Belton of Brandon, FL; great-grandchildren, Loralei and Parker Hartman; sister, Luriese Moore of Omaha, NE; brother, Thomas Belton (Edis) of Omaha, NE; brothers-in-law, Cleveland Hughes, Jr. of Chicago, IL and Richard Spereal of Chicago, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Irene Morrow; and brothers, Andrew, Taylor, Willie, Jr., Oscar, and Lewis Belton.
