David H. Givens

Memorial service for David H. Givens, 54, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

David passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Warren Thomas Givens, Sr. and Dorothy Merchant Givens. He was a 1980 graduate of Wilson Hall and a 1984 graduate of Clemson University. David retired as an agent from SLED. He enjoyed fishing, especially trout fishing, custom making leather items, and was a member of Single Action Shooting Society “Cowboy Action Shooting.” David was an avid Clemson fan and loved spending time with his family at the football games.

Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Donna Seegars Givens, children, Helen Givens Truesdale (Jordan), Matthew Coleman Givens, all of whom he adored; and brother Warren Givens (Teresa). He is also survived by nephews, Brannon and Charles Givens; mother-in-law, Audrey Seegars and brother-in-law, Russell Seegars.
