

Dr. David Connor Isbell passed away unexpectedly September 7th 2023. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 8th, 1972 to Dr. and Mrs. Jerry W. Isbell. He attended Colonial Heights High School and continued his studies at The University of Virginia earning both undergraduate and medical degrees. David completed his residency at Duke University and his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at UVA. David was a Cardiologist at Prisma Health Cardiology in Columbia, SC. He loved his profession and was devoted to his patients for over 17 years. He was well respected by his colleagues and staff. He was the head of cardiac imaging at Prisma Health and was instrumental in the partnership between Prisma and the University of South Carolina Athletic Department.
David will be remembered as a loving father, caring son, and family man who loved spending time traveling, cooking and on the lake with his boys. He was especially proud of his Irish heritage.
Preceding him in death was his precious daughter, Ann-Claire Isbell. David is survived by his sons, William Connor, David Harrison, and Henry Grant Isbell, as well as his parents, Jerry and Brenda Isbell, sisters, Deirdre Portwood (David), Ann Burns (Andrew), nieces Lauren Hancher (Chad), Kathleen Burns-Boyd (David), Emily Portwood and many cousins as well as his Irish uncle, Terry Carmody. Other important people in his life include Morrisa Roche, Mary Katherine Grimoskas, Sarah Isbell and stepdaughter, Caraway Hammett.
The family would like to thank the dedicated physicians and staff at Prisma Health Cardiology for all of their support during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, 7600 Woodrow Street Irmo, SC on Friday, September 15 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. and the Funeral service will be on Saturday, September 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, 120 Marydale Lane, Columbia, SC. Friends and family are welcome to gather for a reception immediately following the service.
Donations can be made to Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital, The American Heart Association or Special Olympics.
