

CHAPIN With family at his side, Mr. Rodgers departed his earthly home to go to his home in Heaven, prepared for him by his Father, on Friday, November 21, 2025. He was born on May 21, 1942, in Ward S.C. to the late Dennis and Carrie Edwards Rodgers.
Following graduation from Ridge Spring-Monetta High School, in Monetta, S.C., he attended the School of Law at Harvard University and worked for the FBI Fingerprinting Department in Washington, DC. Upon returning to Columbia, S.C., he worked in law enforcement for several years. When UPS opened a center in Columbia, he was hired as one of the first package delivery drivers. Many years later, he retired as manager of the UPS Center in Columbia.
He was an active member of St. Andrews Baptist Church and especially enjoyed teaching and interacting with children in Extended Session during the Sunday morning worship hour.
Mr. Rodgers is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Hurt Rodgers; daughter, Melonie Rodgers Vincent (Perry) of Irmo; son, Joel D. Rodgers (Crystal) of Leesville; two granddaughters, Hannah Vincent Boe (Alex) of Lexington, Brittney N. Rodgers of Lexington; one grandson, Grant R. Vincent of Colorado; one great-grandson, Wyatt A. Boe of Lexington; one sister, Sandra Rodgers Rikard of Ward. He was predeceased by brothers, Robert Rodgers (JoAnn Calk Rodgers) and Don Rodgers.
Mr. Rodgers loved his family with all of his heart and worked tirelessly to provide for them. He was loved dearly by his family and will be sorely missed.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, 7600 Woodrow Street, Irmo, S.C. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, S.C. Chapter, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or a charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to express special thanks to Agape Hospice and the Cornerstone Caregiving, especially to caregivers, Kiara, Pamela and Keyshuna, for their compassionate and devoted care.
