

Funeral service for Iris Faye Abercrombie Cothran, 77, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Union United Methodist Church, Irmo. Entombment will follow at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, The Remembrance Chapel, Greenville. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 23, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. Faye passed into eternal life on Tuesday, December 22, 2015. She was born January 13, 1938 in Greenville County, SC and was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ludie Traynham Abercrombie. Faye attended Fork Shoals Elementary School and graduated from Ellen Woodside High School. She attended Anderson Jr. College and Columbia College. Faye retired as a medical clinic business manager. She worked as a helpmate to her husband as he served United Methodist Churches in South Carolina for 57 years. Faye loved to cook and was a wonderful cook and baker. She loved to bake cakes to share with others. Faye was active in the United Methodist Women on a local and district level for many years, taught Sunday school and was an active choir member throughout their ministry. In addition to her parents, Faye was predeceased by three brothers, infant James Robert Abercrombie, Morris Abercrombie, Leroy Rudolph Abercrombie; and sister, Sylvia Lawrence. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 ½ years, Rev. Lee Cothran, Jr.; son, Chris Cothran; granddaughter, Jillian Marie Cothran; grandson, Clark Dupre Cothran; sister, Bobbie Todd (Bob); and brother, Donnie Abercrombie (Ruth). She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Barbara Abercrombie; her Cothran brothers and sisters; twelve nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews.
