Memorial service for James B. Mingus, Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. The family will receive friends from noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Jim passed away Sunday, November 23, 2104 following a courageous 21 year battle with Oral Cancer. Born in Louisville, KY, he was a son of James B. Mingus, Sr. and Margaret Mingus. He was a registered nurse with Irmo Dialysis. Jim was a big believer in making memories; he was vivacious in everything he did. His family was first priority and his granddaughter, Hailey was the light of his life. Jim was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a true Kentucky Wildcat Fan! Jim had two goals that he was aiming to accomplish; the first was to bring awareness and support for patients battling Oral Cancer and the second was to be a guide to help others facing personal struggles.
Surviving in addition to his parents, are his wife of 28 years, Debbie Nielsen Mingus; daughters, Jessica M. Pruitt (Jason); Kristen Mingus (Jason Cirrincione); son, Jamie Mingus; granddaughter, Hailey Pruitt; brother, John Mingus; sisters, Vickie Mingus, Sherri Wilhjelm and Keri Wheatley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
