Jane Roof Elder

COLUMBIA - Jane Roof Elder, 82, of Columbia, SC, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022. Jane was born in Columbia, SC to Wilbur Madden Roof and Helen Davis Sellers and graduated from the old Columbia High School in 1957. After graduating HS, she married, started a family and delivered the Columbia Record for over twenty years traveling over 120 miles a day, 6 days a week. Jane was later employed at Inland Container Corp. in Lexington, SC from where she retired. Jane was a lifelong, 4th generation member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed boating on Lake Murray, traveling, spending time with her adorable pug Maggi and going to see her beloved CLEMSON TIGERS play every home game. Jane was predeceased by her husband, C. Thomas Elder, Jr.; parents, and siblings, David W. Roof, C. Joseph Roof, Jennie E. Roof. She is survived by her brother, Richard F. Roof (Sara), sister-in-law Lucy D. Roof, son, J. Stephen Dennis, daughters, Kemn D. Dodds (Tom), Tara M. Dennis and Holli J. Dennis, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the compassionate care All Seasons Hospice, McLeod Home Care and especially Dawn the Caregiver, LLC provided. Every day our mother would light up at the mention of Dawn Breeland’s name. A service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2022 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Columbia before her interment in the columbarium at St. Paul’s Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the charity of one's choice.
