Lake Murray - A memorial service for Jimmie Hornsby Hightower, 86, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2025, at McGregor Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Bush River Memorial Gardens.
Jimmie passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at home surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer. Raised in White Rock, SC., she was the daughter of the late Robert Jennings and Elizabeth Stoudemayer Hornsby. She was a graduate of Irmo High School, where she played basketball and was a vibrant cheerleader. Jimmie had a very successful career at PMSC in Blythewood, where she mentored and collaborated with the many friends she made along the way. In 2001 Jimmie retired as Manager of Quality Control after receiving two “Employee of the Year” awards and turning down a Vice President position because it would take too much time away from her family. Upon retirement, Jimmie loved spending her days with her grandchildren making memories that will last a lifetime.
Jimmie’s life was filled with joy and laughter. She loved cooking, and spending time with her family. Her fashion style was colorful and full of shoes!! Jimmie loved her large assortment of Keds and happy socks! We would like to ask all those attending to honor Jimmie with your Happiest socks, and/or your craziest Keds!
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Cecil Calvert; sons, Everett Cashion (Tammy), Tony Cashion (Athena); daughter, Mary Mullen (Russ). Grandchildren, Travis Cashion (Ashland), Chase Goldiner (Shayla), Tanner Goldiner (Karen), Ada Melton. Three wonderful great-grandchildren, Callen, Blake and Rustyn. Long time friend and “adopted” daughter, Sandy Harrington. Sister, Barbara Stoudemayer.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Cox.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the many special friends and family members who have always been there for her and her family. A special thanks goes to the wonderful staff and nurses at Lutheran Hospice, who walked alongside Jimmie during her final journey through life.
