John Wilton Edwards

John Wilton Edwards (Johnny) was born June 20, 1944, in Savannah, Georgia. He passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, due to respiratory failure. He was surrounded by family throughout the day prior to his passing.

Johnny was loved by everyone who knew him. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a two-year mission for the church in New Zealand from 1964-1966. He also served in many callings in the church, throughout his life. He especially enjoyed serving in the Bishopric and in Primary. He was a devoted Home Teacher to many families, and he loved serving with his companions.

He and Dawn Giles Edwards were married for more 56 years. He is survived by his wife and his children Blake (Kristina), John (Enid), Tiffany (Marty) and Heath (Kim). He has 21 grandchildren Nikole (Sterling), Kasidy, Zack, Dallin (Ashley), Bryson (Tessa), Rachel (Will), Luke (Lidia), Spencer, Brant (Brianna), Jacob, Marissa, Emerson (Macy), Tanner and Sawyer. He also has 6 great grandchildren, with two more on the way Callie, Harper, Lydia, Emma, Camden and Heath. He is also survived by his sister, Delores Edwards Habel and his brother, Jimmy Edwards (Barbara). He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Ruth and Henry Edwards and his sister Ruthie Edwards Conrad.

Johnny had many vocations in life, but his true love was being a Private Investigator! He was a veteran, having served in the US Army before a medical discharge ended his career early. Johnny was a light to so many people!! His motto was, "Be Kind". He shared this with everyone he met. He will never be forgotten, but he will be very much missed-We love you forever!!

There will be a viewing at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 9:30 am-10:30 am at 7449 Broad River Rd Irmo, SC 29063.

The Funeral Service will begin at the same location at 11am.

The Interment will be at Greenlawn Serenity Gardens at 845 Leesburg Rd Columbia, SC 29209.
