

CHAPIN John Kevin “Jack” McRedmond, 31, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Duke University Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Newport, R.I., he was the son of Dr. Kevin and Mrs. Barbara McRedmond. He was a 2004 graduate of Dutch Fork High School and attended Midlands Technical College. Jack received the gift of life through a heart transplant at the age of nine. His faith in God never wavered through his many health challenges. He remained always grateful to the donor family for the gift of life. Jack was an avid Carolina Gamecock fan. He could always be found cheering them on at Williams Brice Stadium, Colonial Life Arena, and especially at Founders Park. He enjoyed playing his guitar, being with his family and was an avid car enthusiast. He had a special bond with his pug, “Punky”. He was a connoisseur of cheeseburgers and movies. Surviving are his parents of Chapin; sisters, Erin Roseberry (Craig) of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Emily Morton (Reed) of Lake Villa, Ill.; nieces and nephew, Hannah, Bridget and Megan Roseberry and Patrick and Maggie Morton; many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital, Cardiac Transplant Program, 300 Longwood Avenue, Boston, MA 02115 or www.childrenshospital.org/giving. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016, at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, 120 Marydale Lane, Columbia, SC 29210. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. The family would like to thank all of his healthcare providers, especially the staff at SCOA and Duke University Medical Center.
