

Memorial service for John Joseph “Joe” Lutz, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2015, at Lake Murray Presbyterian Church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, is assisting the family.
Mr. Lutz passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015. Born in Portage, PA, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Fovenyesi Lutz. Joe faithfully served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Clarion State College and received his Master’s Degree from West Virginia University. Joe taught social studies and coached football at Blairsville High School, Blairsville, PA and taught biological sciences and coached football, basketball, girls’ softball and was the Athletic Director at Amelia High School, Amelia, OH. Following retirement, he and his wife relocated to Chapin, SC where he was a member of Lake Murray Presbyterian Church. Joe was a member of the Suncoast Woodcarvers, South Carolina Carvers Club, National Woodcarvers Association and the Chapin American Legion.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Wilma Lewis Lutz; son, Gregory Vincent Lutz (Laura); grandchildren, Patrick Lutz, Heather Moran (Matt); and great-grandson, Connor Moran. He is also survived by two sisters, Grace Farren and Lois Schallas.
