Johnny Mack Pruett

Memorial service for Johnny Mack Pruett, 79, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Lake Murray Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo is assisting the family. Mr. Pruett passed away Monday, October 05, 2015. Born in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Paul Alexander and Dortha “Dot” Davis Pruett. Mr. Pruett was a member of Lake Murray Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of Wofford College and Florida State University. He was a Social Worker, building contractor, and retired as a school teacher at the Department of Juvenile Justice. Mr. Pruett was an avid hunter, fisher and woodcarver and was a member of the Chapin Chippers, Woodcarving Club. He enjoyed building cabinets and working for the Good Works Ministry in his community. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Betty Jo Pruett; daughter, Cindy (Larry) Watson; son, Jeff (Lisa) Pruett; grandchildren, Ryan (Maegan) Watson and Justin Watson. He is also survived by a sister, Vahnita Strickland; and sister-in-law, Shelba Pruett. He was preceded in death by a brother, Emmett Pruett.
