

COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Jones Holbrook Williams III, 79, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Church of the Good Shepherd, with a private family burial in Elmwood Cemetery to follow. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel.
Mr. Williams died Wednesday, April 20, 2022. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Jones Holbrook Williams Jr. and Harriett Riley Williams. A graduate of Eau Claire High School, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. He was part owner of John W. Riley Sons Company and later worked for Bonitz Contracting of Columbia. He was a former member of Church of the Good Shepherd where he served as Senior and Junior Warden on the Vestry. He was currently a member of St. Simon and St. Jude Episcopal Church and was a member of The Church of the Cross in Bluffton, S.C for many years.
While residing in the Hilton Head area he worked for Wall Systems and KPM Flooring. He also served as president of the Bluffton Rotary and Chairman of the Bluffton Arts and Seafood Festival. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed horseback riding. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Gwen Mangum Williams; son, Daniel Holbrook “Brooks” Williams (Lori) of Irmo; daughter, Traci Williams of Columbia; son, Britt Williams of Lexington; three grandchildren, Alex, Hampton and Riley Williams. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Sue Cook.
