

Funeral Service for Julian Wesley “Jack” Culler, Jr., 87, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015 at St. Andrews Evangelical Church with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Serenity Gardens. The family will greet friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, is assisting the family.
Mr. Culler passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015. Born in Orangeburg County, he was a son of the late Julian Wesley Culler, Sr. and Leize Simmons Culler. He was the husband of Frances Motley Culler. Mr. Culler was an active member of St. Andrews Evangelical Church. He was a graduate of Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, GA., proudly served for two years active duty in the United States Navy, and retired following 28 years of service as Chief Petty Officer in the United States Naval Reserve. Mr. Culler was a former member of the Kingstree Masonic Lodge #45, AFM and a member of the Lt. Gen. Wade Hampton Camp No. 273, Columbia, SC Sons of Confederate Veterans. He held numerous positions including: District Chief Sanitarian, Sumter-Kershaw District Health Dept.; Chief of Health and Sanitation, SC Public Service Authority (Santee Cooper), Moncks Corner, SC; and was a Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Tom Jenkins Realty, Columbia, SC. Mr. Culler was Past President of the SC Mosquito Control Association; Past President of SC Environmental Health Association; Former Member of the Governing Board of the SC Public Health Association and a Former Member of the SC Board of Realtors. He prepared and published over six family genealogy books on his Koller/Culler family, tracing back to the early 1700’s. He chaired and coordinated several Culler Family Reunions.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 65 years, Frances, are sons, Marion Wesley Culler, George Franklin Culler (Valerie); sister, Rebekah Gillam; grandchildren, Ericka Tiffani Culler-Creekmore (Dwayne), Chase George Culler, Allison Lauren Culler; and great grandchildren, Everette Wesley Julian Culler and Vera Jolene Culler Creekmore. He is also survived by three step great-grandchildren, Jacob Kendall Creekmore, Tyman Harper Creekmore, Kaya Elizabeth Creekmore and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, George H. Culler.
