

COLUMBIA - Kathleen “Raye” Humphries, 21, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022. Born in Canton, Georgia, she was the daughter of Russ and Kim Humphries. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brothers, Trevor and Shane Humphries; Paternal grandparents, James and Frances Humphries of Lake City, South Carolina; Maternal grandmother, Jean Hollins of Mineral, Virginia; Jay and Randi Humphries (Katie and Lilly) of Scranton, South Carolina; Kenny and Alma Hollins of Chesterfield, Virginia; and Hudson Hollins of Greeneville, Tennessee. She is predeceased by her grandparents, George and Rachel Hollins of Mineral, Virginia.
Raye graduated with High Honors from Midlands Technical College in 2021 with an Associate’s degree in Computer Science. She was currently a full time student at the University of South Carolina, where she was pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Cyber Security. She worked as an IT Developer at Reporting Xpress where she had become Amazon Web Services certified.
Raye was a sweet, kind, and precious young lady who absolutely loved animals, rescuing many and adopting them out. Her favorite was Dante, her beloved Siamese cat and best friend. Raye pet sat for many homes and all the animals and families adored her. She enjoyed walking and loved Saluda Shoals Park. She was also an avid reader and writer and was selected twice to participate in the annual High School Writing Contest at the University of South Carolina Honors College. She was also a gifted artist and loved to create charcoal, pencil, and watercolor art.
