

Margaret Zeigler Reed, 88 of Columbia passed away Monday, September 12, 2016. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Coralene Zeigler as well as her husband of 49 years Jack A. Reed. Born March 4, 1928 in Columbia she was one of seven children. Her brothers Kenneth and Douglas and her sisters Leola, Evelyn and Vivian have all preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother Ernest Zeigler of Columbia and her three loving children, Marsha Faulk of Columbia, Dr. Danley M. Reed of Columbia and Gordon Reed (Joyce) of Seymour, TN. She was the proud Grandmother of four grandchildren, Melanie Selmon (Eric)of Myrtle Beach, SC, Kelly Goodwin (Chris) of Blythewood, SC, Jessie John (James) of Lakeland, FL and Michelle Reese of Seymour, TN as well as eight great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. A graduate of Columbia High School, Margaret dedicated her life to her husband’s ministry of music, her family as well as founded many church kindergarten programs in four states over the southeast. Her final years prior to retirement, she served as the director of Riverland Hills Baptist Church Kindergarten in the St. Andrews area. In her years of teaching she easily touched the lives of thousands of children and families with her love of education and of Jesus Christ. She was a long time member of Park Street Baptist Church. She taught ladies Sunday School Classes for many years and her love and knowledge of the Bible was unsurpassed. Margaret was a master seamstress, quilter, and needle crafter throughout her life. She also shared her love for music with her husband and was an excellent pianist and singer. She never had an unkind word to say to or about anyone. She was the best mother, daughter, wife, grandmother and friend imaginable. She will forever live on in our hearts and will be greatly missed by all who have had the chance to meet her. Her favorite sayings were words we should all live by. “Be Ye Kind” and “This too shall pass” Visitation with family and friends will be held 6-8 PM, Thursday, September 15, 2016, at Dunbar Funeral Home Dutch Fork Chapel located at 7000 Woodrow St. Irmo, SC. The funeral services will be held at Park Street Baptist Church, Friday, September 16, 2016 at 10 AM. The church is located at 2204 Park Street, Columbia, SC with interment services to follow at 12 PM at Celestial Memorial Gardens located at 3111 Delree St. West Columbia, SC.
