LEXINGTON - Mary Alice McKeown passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Centennial ARP Church with David Setzer officiating, with burial at 2:00 p.m. in Bush River Memorial Gardens. Deacons from Centennial ARP Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Born in Chester County, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Lee. Mary Alice was a member of Centennial ARP Church for more than 40 years. She served as a deacon for several terms and was very active in the Women of the Church and served as president for several terms. Mary Alice was a school teacher for more than 30 years in Winnsboro High School. She was named Teacher of the Year twice during her career. Surviving are her husband, John W. McKeown, Sr.; son, Eric L. McKeown (Rachel); two grandchildren, Kaitie and Patrick; sisters, Ruth L. Roberts, Betty M. Traylor; and brothers, Walker Dinkins and Colvin Lee. She was predeceased by a son, John W. McKeown, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Centennial ARP Church, 1413 Laurel Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
