

Graveside service for Nell Sellers Abston will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014 in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. Nell passed away Friday, October 17, 2014. Born in Hazlehurst, GA on August 4, 1946, she was a daughter of John Morgan and Wanell Sellers. She was an active member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church, where she served on the Administrative Board. During her younger years, Ms. Abston served as the organist for Little River Baptist Church and Belmont Baptist Church. After ten years of employment with Dun & Bradstreet, Ms. Abston served 34 years with the State of South Carolina in the agencies of Vocational Rehabilitation for two years and the Comptroller General’s Office for 32 years, retiring as Senior Assistant Comptroller General for the Administrative Division. She worked for Comptrollers General, Earle E. Morris, Jr., James A. Lander and Richard Eckstrom. In addition to her parents, John and Wanell Sellers, Ms. Abston is survived by her children, who were the loves of her life, Joseph Edward Abston and Julie Ann Coats (Monty); three cherished grandchildren, Barbara Elizabeth Abston, Catherine Monroe Coats and Charles Monroe Coats III. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Ronnie Thrailkill; nephews, Charles (Chuck) Boynton; John Morgan Boynton; and a dear and faithful friend, Gordon R.
