

Our beautiful mom, Patricia Ann Kurciviez (nee Conlan), age 88, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2024, surrounded by her family in Columbia, South Carolina. She was born in Glen Cove, New York, on November 10, 1935, daughter of James and Gertrude Conlan (nee Farrell). Patricia was the cherished sister of three brothers and two sisters.
She graduated from Sea Cliff High School in 1954 where she studied photography.
Patricia retired from the Sun-Sentinel in 1998 where she served as circulation manager and received many accolades including the President’s Award for excellence.
After her retirement, Patricia spent countless hours researching and recording details about the lives of her ancestors and meeting cousins she never knew she had. She also traveled with her husband Mike to Ireland several times where she further explored her ancestry.
Patricia loved to go to antique shows and rediscover nostalgic items from her past. She was always on the lookout for unique teapots that she could add to her collection.
Above all, she cherished moments spent with family, whether lounging by the pool with grandson Curren or backyard barbecues.
Patricia’s deep faith as a Catholic was a guiding force in her life and she carried her mother’s rosary beads with her always.
Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Kurciviez, and her former husband, Erik Froden. She is survived by her sister Clare Barkovic (husband Bill) and her six children: Sharon Gibson (husband Jeff, deceased), Patricia Richeson (husband David), Erik Froden, David Froden, Bryan Froden (wife Angela), and Michelle Moore (husband Chad). She leaves behind a legacy of love, embodied in her 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Patricia's warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Her memory will live on and continue to be a blessing to her family and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church in Columbia, SC at 10:00 AM October 25, 2024.
