Phillip “Phil” Alan Branson, USAF (Ret) Lt. Col., 77, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2020. Born in Kingsport, TN, he was the son of the late Lloyd L. Branson and Ruby Henry Branson. He was a 1966 graduate of the University of South Carolina where he lettered in football. He remained a loyal Gamecock as he was a member of the Gamecock Club and the USC Association of Letterman. Following his graduation from USC, Phil entered the Air Force as an officer where continued his education earning his Masters Degree from The Air Force Institute of Technology. He retired following 21 years in the US Air Force, as a Lt. Col. Phil began his second career with GlaxoSmithKline where he retired as Director of Distribution.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Culbertson Branson; daughters, Elizabeth Garrett (Chad), Susan Turkopuls (Markus); five grandchildren, Sam, Hannah, and Matthew Christy, Alex and Katie Turkopuls. He is also survived by two sisters, Judy Ball (Sherrill) and Nancy Cordell.
