

Sterling Lee Morrison, 74, of Chapin, South Carolina, died at home with his wife and family present on November 30, 2020. Mr. Morrison, known as Pete, had been battling heart issues. His passing was peaceful.
Pete was born on May 21, 1946, in Chicago, IL, the son of late Inez and Dr. Thomas Morrison.
Pete grew up in Virginia Beach, VA, graduated from Norfolk High School in 1964, and graduated from Virginia Tech in 1968 with a degree in Structural/Architectural Engineering. He served with the Army Corps of Engineers and worked for a number of companies over his lifetime, including Armco Steel (both domestic and European offices), F&ME, and the South Carolina State Budget and Control Board. He and his wife, Margaret, started Terratec, Incorporated, together in 1982. The family-owned company has continued and is currently being led by Pete’s son, Christopher Morrison. Pete was an entrepreneur, leader, friend, and valued mentor to many.
Pete is survived by his wife of 46 years, Margaret Morrison of Chapin, SC; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Morrison and Darryn Bouknight of Cayce, SC; daughter and son-in-law, Susanne and Danny Prenner of Charleston, SC; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Tricia Morrison of Chapin, SC; and four grandchildren: Benjamin Prenner, Mary Ellen Morrison, Anna Gray Morrison, and Elle Prenner. The entire family was able to celebrate an early Thanksgiving prior to Pete’s surgery. Pete was preceded in death by his first wife, Lynn Tullis, in 1973. He enjoyed collecting die cast muscle cars, telling stories, and playing and doing projects with his grandchildren.
A viewing was held for the immediate family on December 2, 2020, at the Dunbar Funeral Home in Irmo, SC. A celebration of Pete’s life for friends and extended family is being planned for later after the pandemic crisis has passed.
