A service to celebrate the life of William Dana Sibert will be held Tuesday, July 19th at First Baptist Church of Columbia in the Boyce Chapel at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia.
Bill was born on May 30th, 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio and passed away on July 10th, 2022 surrounded by his family. He grew up loving music, playing the trombone, and loved to tell stories about his time as a part of the 110 Marching Men of Ohio while he attended Ohio University. After college, he moved to Savannah to begin his 40 year television career at WSAV. It was there he met his bride of 43 years who absolutely saw stars the first time she met him at the station’s water fountain. He continued his career at WIS-TV where he became senior editor at Take Ten Productions. “Woofer” also loved working as a freelance audio mixer for ESPN, ABC Sports, NBC Sports, Raycom Sports, and NASCAR. The friendships he made through mentoring others in this field were the ones he loved the most.
Outside of his career, Mr Sibert was a gentle giant of a man that loved his dog, Lucy, adored his girls and cherished his wife. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia. He enjoyed biking, tennis, golf and swimming. He was happiest at the beach. He loved a Cherry Limeade and always looked forward to breakfast with the SLOBS.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years Karen, his daughters Jessica Alspach and Brittany Sibert, his son-in-law Derick Alspach, and his granddaughters Macallister, Sullivan Kate, and Sutton Alspach.
The family would like the thank the doctors, PAs, respiratory therapists, and especially the nurses at Parkridge ICU.
