

William Stevenson “Steve” Weston III, 74, beloved husband of Judy J. Weston passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Union United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the burial at the church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel is assisting the family.
Steve was born on January 20, 1941 in Aynor, the oldest son of the late William Stevenson Weston, Jr. and Capitola Catherine King Weston. Steve grew up in Columbia and Murrells Inlet and was a graduate of Dreher High School. He attended The Citadel and was a graduate of Anderson College. He further studied at Erskine College and Columbia College. Steve served in the US Army and US Air Force.
Steve spent his childhood summers at his family’s home in Murrells Inlet where he developed a passion for wildlife and nature. He was a lifelong member of Ducks Unlimited and became an expert in the procreation and raising ducks, geese, and swans. He was an active member of Sertoma Club for many years.
Steve’s legacy to his family was God’s gift of music. He was a talented pianist and vocalist. He sang and danced in Red Stockings Revue for over twenty years. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church, the Aline Leitner Fellowship Sunday School Class, and the Chancel Choir. Steve owned ABIS Insurance and Inspection Services and retired as owner and broker of Steve Weston Realty and Property Management.
Steve loved God and his family and is survived by his wife Judy; daughters, Tara Capitola Hawkinson (Mark), Natalie Suzanne Weston, Mary Weston Stewart (Devin); son, William Stevenson Weston V; stepdaughter, Traci Sox Upton (Scott); stepsons, Charles Russell Sox, Jr. (Paul) and Ricky Warren Sox. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Catherine, Weston, Steven, Blaine, Sarah, Cole, Brandon, Sawyer, Maia; and brothers, Carter Weston (Sandra), Richard Weston; Robert Weston (Elmira); many nieces and nephews. Mr. Weston is preceded in death by a son, William Stevenson Weston IV; and brother, Eugene Weston.
