

Of Jerome, Michigan passed away at the age of 83 on Friday, October 20, 2023 under the kind and compassionate care of the staff at Highland Home in Jackson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Sandra Braybrooke; two children, Lori Kirby and Steve (Denise) Braybrooke; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two siblings, Jackie (Jim) Lapinski; Dean (Sandra) Braybrooke as well as nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two infant twin sons, Alfred John and Guy Alan; grandson, Samuel Braybrooke. Al was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 12, 1940 to Alfred and Diane Braybrooke. He is a 1959 graduate of Jackson High School. He married Sandra Smith on August 12, 1961 and together they raised a family. Al spent his career managing local grocery stores for many years. He went on to own and operate Jackson’s beloved coffee shop, Al’s Coffee Café. He was always active in his community and willing to help others when he was able to. He was an avid runner and huge sports fan. Al was a Marathon runner and participated in both the Boston and Detroit Marathons twice. He had a strong Faith in the Lord and was a member of the Word of Promise in Addison, Michigan. Al was able to connect with others and had a gift to make others laugh. He touched the hearts and lives of many and will be greatly missed. A Funeral Service will be held at Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home (1806 E. Michigan Ave. Jackson, 49202) on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. and again one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest at Spring Arbor Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Hillsdale Humane Society, Cascades Humane Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
