Barbara Jo Chapman, age 68, of Hillsdale, MI passed away on Tuesday July 15th 2025 at Henry Ford Allegiance in Jackson, MI. She was born on October 19th 1956 in Pittsburgh, PA to JoAnn Kridler. After moving to Michigan with her family, Barb married Timothy Chapman in Jackson, MI on November 15th 1974.
Barb and Tim went on to have three children: Timothy Chapman Jr., Thomas Chapman, and Kayla Chapman-Shadik. Barb enjoyed nothing more than being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. After 27 years working as the Office Manager of the Pulmonary Clinic in Jackson, MI, Barb selflessly retired early to care for her dying mother and step-father, JoAnn and Warren Kridler. After their passing, Barb enjoyed retirement by going on adventures with her husband Tim, spending time at their cabin in Harrison, reading her Bible, tending to her plants, and surrounding herself with and cooking for her family.
A woman of deep faith, Barb lived a life guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and her deep devotion as the rock of the Chapman Family. Barb was the person in the family whom anyone could talk to, but was also not afraid to tell you how it is. As the matriarch of the family, Barb was always able to get the family together to celebrate just about anything. If you knew Barb, you were family to her. Her heart and ears were open to anyone.
Barb is preceded in death by her parents JoAnn and Warren Kridler, her in-laws Charles and Ruth Chapman, her sister Judith Bayne, her nephew Kent Leslie Jr., her niece Michelle Allen, and her great grandson Beau Miller.
Barb is survived by her husband Timothy Chapman, her siblings Jeff Bayne, Jim Bayne, Rob Bayne, Chuck (Kathy) Chapman, Kevin (Rose) Chapman, Ron (Shar) Chapman, and Jackie Leslie, her children Timothy (Deb) Chapman Jr., Thomas (Christy) Chapman, and Kayla (Dan) Chapman-Shadik, her grandchildren Sabrina (Brenden), Kaylee, Timmy, Rex, Chandler, Myron, Audrey, Kelsey, Daelynn, Savannah, and Tanner, her great grandchildren Abraham, Caleb, Lillian, Scarlet, and Amelia, and multiple nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation for Barbara will be held Tuesday, July 22nd, 2025 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at Burden Patience Montgomery Funeral Home, 1806 E. Michigan Ave, Jackson, MIchigan 49202, followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00PM.
We celebrate Barbara’s life and find comfort in her belief in the promise of eternal life through Christ Jesus.
