Of Vandercook Lake, Michigan has gone to be with his mother, Ann Backus and brother, Todd Backus who both preceded him to heaven. He leaves his memories to be cherished by his father, Russell (Lorraine) Backus; daughter, Audri Backus; siblings, Julie and Roger Bridgewater; Daniel (Connie) Backus; Janice Backus and companion Eric Winton, grandchild Brooklyn; nephews Donnie Brown, Jesse Yother, Seth Backus and Nick Backus; nieces Stepheny Gredell and Jenna Bridgewater. David proudly served our country in the Army’s 1461st Transportation Company in Iraq for two tours of duty, where he earned a Purple Heart among other commendations. He was a wonderful person that will be dearly and sadly missed. Per his wishes, cremation has been chosen. A celebration of life will be held Friday, June 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Roseland Memorial Gardens (3744 Brooklyn Rd, Jackson). Visitation will be held at the cemetery from 10:00 AM until time of service, when military honors will be presented.
